Prep roundup: Ridgeview, Abingdon into M7 girls semis

CLINTWOOD — Ridgeview marched into the Mountain 7 District girls basketball tournament semifinals behind strong performances from a trio of players.

Nikole Counts fired up 20 points, Bailey Frazier scored 14 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists, and Brooklyn Frazier had 11 points and snared five steals in the Lady Wolfpack’s 63-27 victory over John Battle on Tuesday.

Ridgeview (17-6) advanced to meet Abingdon on Thursday in the tournament semifinals at Wise Central in Norton.

Bethany Smith led the Lady Trojans (4-19) with 12 points.

ABINGDON 73, LEE 53

ABINGDON — Emily Breeding put up 20 points and the Lady Falcons earned a spot in the Mountain 7 semifinals.

Emily Billips added 11 points and Ella Callebs had 10 for Abingdon (16-7), which plays Ridgeview on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Wise Central.

Kandace Quillen had a team-best 14 points for the Lady Generals (5-18).

CEDAR VIEW CHRISTIAN 41, ACTS ACADEMY 28

KINGSPORT — Jenni Droke scored 15 points to power the Lady Seahawks’ offense.

Brooklyn Derrick hauled down an impressive 20 rebounds and scored 10 points and Maci Salyers also contributed a double-double, grabbing 14 board with 12 points for Cedar View.

Eden Chapman led Acts with 14 points.

BOYS

ACTS ACADEMY 68, CEDAR VIEW CHRISTIAN 58

KINGSPORT — Nick Rose fired up 20 points and Isaac Chapman and Mike Messersmith racked up 18 apiece to boost the Seahawks to the victory.

Will Jones joined his Cedar View teammates in double figures with 12 points.

Isaiah Chapman scored 14 for Acts.
